The popularity of multiplayer online battle arenas has begun to rise in an unstoppable manner. Mobile Legends is on the verge of conquering the world with this invitational event.

ONE Championship is sports media in Asia that recently launched its subsidiary ONE Esports, a gaming platform. In their bid to remain at the top of the market, ONE Esports announced the launch of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Invitational, scheduled to run from the 2nd of May to the 5th of July 2020. Top players from across the globe will battle for the grand prize pool of around $150,000 (236,274 AUD).

Bang Bang

Bang Bang is a multiplayer online battle arena game that was designed to be played on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. It was launched back in 2016 and has been the most played multiplayer online battle arena game in SE Asia.

Additionally, it has been able to reach 500 million downloads, with over 80 million active players per month, and has been released to 139 countries. Plus, it has been localized into over 20 languages that operate on thousands of servers to ensure that the game runs smoothly. Furthermore, during the 2019 SEA games, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was recognized as a medal game.

The Invitational

The invitation by ONE Esports was designed to gather the top mobile legends in Southeast Asia. This tournament happens to be the first promoted with the Moonton (the ‘developer). The tournament was developed to train the top MLBB teams, celebrate the success of the game as well as encouraging the fans across the world.

The Schedule

The qualifying matches start on the 2nd of May and run through to the 17th of May, 2020. The online qualifying matches will be broadcasted in each country while the final matches will be played in Jakarta scheduled to begin on July 1st up to July 5th, 2020.

The schedule per country is as follows

  • May 2nd to May 3rd: Indonesia and Singapore
  • May 9th to May 10th: Malaysia and the Philippines
  • May 16th to May 17th: Myanmar, Laos and Thailand

Prize pool

Players in the competition are all playing to win a total prize pool of $150,000. Here is the breakdown of the prize pool

  • 1st place – $50,000
  • 2nd Place – $25,000
  • 3rd Place – $20,000
  • 4th Place – $15,000
  • There are also consolation prizes for the teams that participated in the competition.

Discounts and in-game Prizes

The tournament was designed to be part of the annual 515 celebrations of Mobile Legends. The celebration usually takes place in Singapore and Malaysia; however, due to the pandemic, the celebration was moved online.

As part of the celebration, the MLBB will host a series of online events such as Art contest, E-party, and photo challenge starting on the 16th of May. There would be several amazing in-games prizes for players that participate in these events.

The organization will be giving huge discounts on the exclusive character skins throughout the length of the event.
