The restart of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) is scheduled for May, as announced by Smart Communications, Inc. This announcement was made in an effort to support the esports scene in the Philippines despite the current crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to the brunt of the coronavirus pandemic that was bored by the Philippines, the 5th season of the MPL was stopped in its fourth week. Among the teams that were participating in the MPL before it was stopped were, Sunsparks, Execration, Bren Sports, Onic PH, eek Fam, Blacklist International, SGD Omega, and STI.
1.Mobile Legends Professional League Season 5
The 5th season of the MPL will run the remaining week 4 to 6 of the season on 1st-3rd, 8th–10th, and 15th-17th of May 2020 while the esports tournament’s grand final will be played from 29th to 31st of May, 2020. Also, the tournament will be broadcasted to Filipino fans online.
The teams will be playing from home as the organizers have assured that the quarantine protocols will be followed. Additionally, the players will be monitored by marshals to ensure that the protocols are being followed. The games will run from 6 pm to 11 pm on the days it has been scheduled to hold.
This latest season of the MPL was made possible by the partnership of Smart Communications, Inc. with publisher Shanghai Moonton Technology as well as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang developer. The partnership was part of its commitment to the growth of mobile esports in the Philippines. Although, this is not the first time that Smart Communications, Inc is partnering with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang developer as they have done so for past Mobile Legends events.
